RunFest: Grand Prix Race 2027 — Rules & Regulations

By registering for RunFest: Grand Prix Race 2027 (the “Event”), each participant confirms they have read, understood and accepted these Rules & Regulations. For Sekiden teams, the team captain registers on behalf of the team and confirms every team member has accepted these terms.

1. General

1.1.RunFest: Grand Prix Race (the “Event”) is organised by Unikorn Events Sdn. Bhd. (Company No. 202501009129 (1610543-T)) (the “Organiser”). KL Wellness City is the Official Venue Partner.

1.2.The Event runs from 26 to 28 March 2027 at KL Wellness City, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur (the “Venue”). Race Entry Pack collection (REPC) is on 26 and 27 March. Soloist races on Saturday evening, 27 March; Sekiden races on Sunday morning, 28 March.

1.3.Official information is published at www.grandprixrace.com (the “Official Website”) and @klrunfest. Registration is handled by Checkpoint Spot Sdn. Bhd. (“CPS”) on its platform (the “Registration Platform”).

1.4.Where these Rules & Regulations and any other Event material conflict, these Rules & Regulations prevail.

2. Personal data (PDPA 2010)

2.1.By registering, participants consent to the Organiser, its sponsors, timing provider, agents and contractors collecting, processing and storing their personal data for the Event.

2.2.Personal data will be used to run the Event (registration, team allocation, timing, results, medical response, insurance), to send Event and marketing communications, and for statistical analysis to improve future editions.

2.3.The Organiser may appoint third parties, inside or outside Malaysia, to process data for Event operations. They are contractually bound to use it only for that purpose.

2.4.Participants may opt out of marketing communications at any time by emailing hello@unikorn.asia. Withdrawing consent to data needed to run the Event before race day will be treated as withdrawal from the Event.

2.5.Sekiden captains confirm they have each team member’s consent to share that member’s personal data during registration.

2.6.The Organiser will take reasonable steps to keep personal data secure, and may disclose it where required by law or a competent authority.

3. Event changes, cancellation & force majeure

3.1.The Organiser may change the date, venue, schedule, circuit or race format, or postpone or cancel the Event, where it judges this necessary for safety or operations.

3.1A.Force majeure means any event beyond the Organiser’s reasonable control that makes it impossible, unsafe or unlawful to hold the Event, or any session of it, as planned. This includes, without limitation:

• natural disasters (bencana alam), floods (banjir), storms, strong winds, landslides and earthquakes;
• lightning, heavy or continuous rain, and extreme heat;
• haze or poor air quality, managed under the API protocol in clause 3.2;
• epidemics, pandemics and public health orders;
• fire, explosion, structural damage or loss of access to the Venue;
• riots, civil unrest, terrorism or security threats;
• a declared emergency, national mourning, or any instruction, restriction or withdrawal of permit by the government, police, DBKL or any other authority;
• failure of power, utilities, timing or telecommunications systems that is not caused by the Organiser.

3.1B.The Organiser’s decision on whether a force majeure event has occurred, and how to respond to it, is final.

3.2.Weather and air quality. The Event runs rain or shine.

3.2A.Lightning and storms. If lightning or a storm is present or imminent, officials will first pause or delay the timeline. Sessions may then be shortened, merged or cancelled if conditions do not improve.

3.2B.Haze. The Organiser monitors the Air Pollutant Index (API) from the nearest Department of Environment station at regular intervals before and during each race day, and acts as follows:

3.2C.If a final cannot be run, placings are declared from the last completed round (qualifying or semi-final).

3.3.Cancellation. If the Event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond the Organiser’s control, entry fees and transaction charges are not refundable, transferable or deferrable. Participants may collect finisher entitlements at a date and place announced on the Official Website; items not collected in that window are forfeited.

3.4.The Organiser may add, change or remove any category, and may cap or close any category or wave.

3.5.The Organiser may refuse or cancel any entry, or disqualify any participant or team, for breach of these rules, fraud or suspected foul play, or conduct against the interests of the Event.

3.6.The Organiser may amend these Rules & Regulations at any time. Changes take effect when published on the Official Website, and participants are responsible for keeping up to date. The Organiser’s interpretation of any ambiguity is final.

4. Insurance (Group Personal Accident)

4.1.Every registered participant receives complimentary Group Personal Accident cover for the Event. The insurer and the cover limits are to be confirmed and will be published here before race pack collection:

4.2.Cover does not apply where registration details or declarations are false or incomplete, and the insurer may reject such claims.

4.3.Eligible age, excluded nationalities and other exclusions follow the insurer’s policy wording, published on the Official Website.

4.4.A participant is covered once per race day, even if registered in more than one category that day.

5. Categories & eligibility

5.1.Participation is voluntary. Age is taken as at the participant’s race day.

5.2.A Mix Sekiden team may include a maximum of 2 men, so it must have at least 1 woman.

5.3.The Organiser may refuse or reassign any entry that does not meet the age or composition rules for its category.

5.4.Participants are responsible for making sure they are legally and medically fit to take part.

6. Registration

6.1.All entries are made online through the Registration Platform. Registration closes on 28 February 2027, or earlier when a category reaches its cap.

6.2.Participants must give true, accurate and complete details. The Organiser may cancel any entry based on false or incomplete information, without refund. Notices sent to the registered email address are deemed received.

6.3.Registration is confirmed by email. Errors in the confirmation must be reported to hello@unikorn.asia within 5 working days of registering.

6.4.One entry per person per category. A runner may enter both Soloist and Sekiden, but may not appear in more than one Sekiden team.

6.5.Bib transfers. A confirmed entry may be transferred from the registered participant (the “Seller”) to a new participant (the “Buyer”) only through the CPS Marketplace bib transfer function, until 28 February 2027. Transfers made any other way, or after this date, are not recognised. No transfers are made at REPC or on race day.

6.5A.Process.

1. The Seller submits a transfer request through the CPS Marketplace and pays a processing fee of RM20.
2. Within 3 working days, CPS generates a transfer code, and the Seller’s registration is voided.
3. The Buyer must use the transfer code to register their details within 3 days.

6.5B.Terms.

• The Organiser is not responsible for any payment, transaction or agreement between the Seller and the Buyer.
• The Seller and Buyer alone are responsible if the process is not completed in time, including a voided registration with no replacement.
• A transfer is complete only when the correct fee has been paid.
• The Buyer must meet the category’s age and eligibility rules and accept these Rules & Regulations.
• A change of category as part of a transfer is subject to slot availability.
• Once transferred, the Seller loses all rights to the entry and its entitlements.

6.5C.Unauthorised bib swaps. Anyone running with a bib registered to someone else is disqualified, and so is the registered holder. They are not covered by the Event’s personal accident insurance, and their results and prizes are void.

6.6.Sekiden team changes. The captain may replace a team member through the bib transfer process in clause 6.5, until 28 February 2027. The replacement must meet the category’s age and composition rules. A team that starts with an unregistered runner is disqualified.

6.7.Team captain. Each Sekiden team names one captain, who is the Organiser’s point of contact and is responsible for passing all Event information to the team.

6.8.No refunds or deferments. Entry fees and transaction charges are not refundable, and entries cannot be deferred to another date, category or future edition, for any reason. This includes withdrawal, injury, illness, no-show, incorrect or duplicate registration, and postponement or cancellation of the Event under clause 3.

6.9.The Organiser may use third-party services to run registration.

7. Fees

7.1.Registration runs in five tiers. A Soloist entry is one person; a Sekiden entry is one team of three.

7.1A.Returnee slots are offered by email invitation only to participants of the Mizuno KL RunFest S/Ekiden 2025 on 9 November 2025, and are checked against the 2025 entry list. The Organiser may cancel a Returnee entry that does not match. Other tier slots are sold first come, first served, and a tier closes when its slots run out or its window ends.

7.2.The same prices apply to all participants, whatever their nationality or residence.

7.3.Club or group codes are valid only for the stated window and number of entries, and cannot be combined with other offers.

7.4.Platform and payment processing fees are borne by the participant and calculated at checkout by CPS. Fees are non-refundable except where these rules say otherwise.

8. Race format: qualifying & finals

8.1.Circuit. All races are held on a 1 km urban loop through KL Wellness City, with a 500 m straight, two U-turns and a transition (exchange) area. Distances are counted in laps by the timing system.

8.2.Soloist qualifying. Soloists run in waves seeded by declared 5 km time. Each runs 5 laps (5 km). Qualifying rank is decided by each runner’s fastest single lap of the 5. Ties are broken by the second-fastest lap, then by total 5 km time. A runner must complete all 5 laps within 35 minutes from their wave’s start signal; a runner who misses this cut-off is not ranked and cannot advance, whatever their fastest lap. The top 60 in each of the four Soloist categories (Men Open, Men Veteran, Women Open, Women Veteran) advance to the semi-finals (3 laps, 3 km), which are also ranked by fastest single lap. The top 30 per category from the semi-finals advance to the final (3 laps, 3 km).

8.3.Sekiden relay. Each team’s three runners wear bibs marked A, B and C. Every leg is 1 lap, and the sash is handed over after each lap. The order the team runs in its first three legs is locked and must be repeated in every following rotation (e.g. B → A → C, B → A → C, and so on):

• Qualifying: 12 legs (the team’s order, four times), 12 km per team, 4 laps per runner.
• Final: 6 legs (the team’s order, twice), 6 km per team, 2 laps per runner.

Team time runs from the start signal to the finish of the last leg.

8.3A.Qualifying limits. A team must complete all 12 legs within 70 minutes of its wave’s start signal; a team that misses this cut-off is recorded as Did Not Finish (DNF), is not ranked, and cannot advance. In addition, every leg must be completed within 7:30; each leg over 7:30 adds a 60-second penalty to the team’s time.

8.3B.Final limits. The final has a 30-minute session limit. Teams still racing when it expires are stopped and placed behind all finishing teams, ranked by legs completed.

8.3C.The top 30 teams in each category (Men, Women and Mix) advance to a single combined final. Category results and podiums are decided by finishing order within each category.

8.4.Sessions. Each qualifying wave starts only after the previous one has finished and the circuit is clear. Published start times are estimates and may move on the day.

8.5.Semi-finals and finals. Soloist semi-finals and finals are run as two races each: Men (Open and Veteran together) and Women (Open and Veteran together). Each category is still ranked separately. Finalists line up on a static starting grid, with grid positions set by qualifying (or semi-final) rank. Finals are decided by finishing order.

8.6.Missed waves. Participants and teams must race in their assigned qualifying wave. A participant or team that misses its wave is recorded as Did Not Start (DNS), is not ranked, and cannot move to another wave or advance.

9. Race Entry Pack (REP)

9.1.Each Race Entry Pack contains an Event tee, a medal, a drawstring bag, a race bib with timing chip, and sponsored goodies. Sekiden bibs are marked A, B or C.

9.2.Tee sizes are first come, first served, subject to 1–2 inches tolerance, and cannot be exchanged. Merchandise images are illustrations and may differ from the final product.

9.3.Race Entry Packs are collected at the Venue on Friday 26 March 2027, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and Saturday 27 March 2027, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Limited collection for Sekiden participants may be available at the Venue on Sunday 28 March before check-in, but participants should collect on 26 or 27 March.

9.4.A person may collect for up to 4 Soloist participants, including themselves, with each participant’s confirmation email and a copy of their ID. A Sekiden captain may collect for their own team only; no one may collect for another Sekiden team.

9.5.Participants must check their REP before leaving the counter. Issues raised later will not be handled.

9.6.Race Entry Packs not collected in the collection window are forfeited. There is no delivery option.

10. Race conduct

Check-in and holding pen

10.1.Participants must check in on site at the holding pen 30 minutes before their wave. Late arrivals are recorded as DNS under clause 8.6.

10.2.Warm-up must be done before check-in. Once checked in, participants stay in the holding pen until called to the start.

10.3.Bibs must be worn on the front and fully visible at all times. Participants without their own bib will not be admitted to the holding pen. Swapping bibs or chips leads to disqualification of the runner or team.

Starts and the circuit

10.4.A runner or team that starts before the start signal receives a 10-second time penalty. The race referee may disqualify a deliberate early start.

10.5.Participants must stay within the marked circuit, go fully round each U-turn cone, and follow instructions from marshals, officials, medical and security staff.

10.6.Slower runners keep left so faster runners can pass on the right. Deliberate blocking, pushing or tripping leads to disqualification.

10.7.Runners who are lapped continue to their required lap count; the timing system counts each runner’s own laps.

Sekiden exchange

10.8.The sash must be handed over by hand inside the marked exchange zone. A hand-over outside the zone receives a 10-second time penalty, added to the team’s time.

10.9.Only the incoming and outgoing runner may be in the exchange zone. The third runner waits in the team’s pitstop in the transition area.

10.10.Running order is set by the team’s first three legs and cannot change for the rest of the session. A team that runs a leg out of that order is disqualified.

Safety and fair play

10.11.No outside help: pacing by non-participants, bicycles, scooters, prams, pets or wheeled items are not allowed on the circuit. Only registered participants may enter it.

10.12.Participants must stop immediately when told to by medical staff, the race director or an official, and must report any injury, illness or relevant medical condition to medical staff.

10.13.Hydration is available in the transition area, including in each Sekiden team’s pitstop. Personal drinks must be in sealed, non-glass containers. Littering on the circuit is not allowed.

10.14.Headphones, earphones and phones may not be carried or used while racing.

10.15.The Organiser is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged property, including items left at baggage deposit.

11. Results, protests & prizes

11.1.Results are produced by the official timing system and verified by the Organiser, whose decision is final.

11.2.Finals are decided by gun time, in order of crossing the finish line. Qualifying and semi-finals are decided as set out in clause 8.

11.3.By registering, participants agree that their name, team name, category and times may be published on the Official Website and on-site screens.

11.4.Podium finishers in each category receive prizes of cash and products, as listed on the Official Website. A participant or team can win only one prize per category.

11.5.Protests during the Event. Protests on qualifying or semi-final results must be lodged at the Results Desk within 15 minutes of results being posted. Protests on final results must be lodged within 30 minutes of posting. Late protests will not be heard.

11.6.After the Event. Other result queries must be emailed to hello@unikorn.asia within 48 hours of results being published online. No changes are made after that.

11.7.Podium finishers must present original ID at the Winners’ Desk and attend the prize presentation. A Sekiden prize requires all three team members to be present. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited.

11.8.A winner found to have broken these rules will be disqualified and the prize passed to the next eligible finisher.

11.9.Cash prizes are paid by bank transfer within 7 working days after the protest and dispute period for that category has closed.

12. Finisher entitlements & e-certificates

12.1.Every participant receives an Event medal at the finish area. Podium finishers receive separate prizes under clause 11.4. Claims after the Event will not be accepted.

12.2.Sekiden medals are given to each team member at the end of the team’s session.

12.3.Trophies are presented at the prize presentation.

12.4.E-certificates are issued by CPS through the Registration Platform.

13. Media rights

13.1.Participants agree that the Organiser and its partners may photograph, film, record and live-stream the Event, and may use the footage, names, team names and results for promotion and commercial purposes, in any media, worldwide, without payment or further notice.

13.2.Participants may not use the Grand Prix Race name, logo or Event footage for commercial purposes without the Organiser’s written permission.

14. Assumption of risk, waiver & release

14.1.Participants accept that running at race pace, including night running and close-quarters racing on a looped circuit, carries risks of injury, illness, property damage and death, some of which cannot be foreseen. They take part voluntarily despite these risks.

14.2.Participants confirm they are in good health, have trained adequately, and have been advised to consult a doctor before taking part. They must declare any relevant medical condition, medication or allergy at registration.

14.3.To the fullest extent allowed by Malaysian law, the Organiser, KL Wellness City, sponsors, the registration and timing providers, authorities whose property or staff are used, and their officers, employees, agents and volunteers (the “Released Parties”) are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or death arising from training for, taking part in, or attending the Event.

14.4.Participants waive any right to bring claims against the Released Parties for such loss, damage, injury or death, including claims alleging negligence, to the extent permitted by law.

14.5.The Organiser’s total liability to any participant for any claim connected with the Event is capped at an amount to be confirmed and published here before race pack collection.

14.6.These terms bind participants’ heirs, executors, administrators and personal representatives.

14.7.If any clause is found unenforceable by a court, it is removed and the rest remain in force. A failure or delay by the Organiser to enforce any clause is not a waiver of it.

14.8.These Rules & Regulations are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and participants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Malaysian courts.
